Mark is NOT retiring

 I wondered the same thing, is Mark saying he is "retiring"?

I actually expected a lot more uproar in the forums after that email. Maybe no one else noticed that.

I read Mark's e-mail four times..........does anyone know? 

 Just read it.  And re-read it.  And again...  Then I came here to see if anyone else saw the same thing.

Until I see Mark comment further - and I /know/ he'll see these, and quite probably laugh - I'm taking it as a reference to Mark retiring from being a road dog, rather than "retiring full stop", based on the various posts about his personal delivery of conferences declining through the course of this year.
No inside information or anything, just how I'm interpreting it - but yeah, I read it back over a couple times as well!

 Although surprised by the timing, the writing was on the wall with a new conference partner being brought in and Mark backing away from presenting.  I wasn't expecting a full retirement just yet, so maybe it will be a staged withdrawal?  
Either way does anyone here know of anyone more hard working and more deserving of a break than Mark?  I don't. 
I am just glad I took the initiative to fly from Perth to Sydney for the conference last year and had the opportunity to meet and talk with Mark in person.  It's a great lesson - why put off until tomorrow that which you can do today.  Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
Thanks for everything you have done for me and everyone else Mark, it has transformed my life.

I don't think I'm the only one that sent Mark an immediate email after reading that TITIT. Time will tell!

Read the TITIT and like others headed straight to the forums to check it out.
I would be VERY SURPRISED if Mark was completely stepping back from working, MT - maybe, but IMHO he's the kind of person who will never stop until he's 6 feet under.

Which relates to my other immediate thought on seeing the newsletter this morning: "oh, you poor sod!" - figuring Mark's daily email would, well, "spike a bit"!  So I came here to see what else was being said.

I may be proven wrong, but I didn't take that comment seriously.  I read it as, "I now have the great honor of being someone's Peter Drucker, which means I have reached my lifelong goal and can at last retire on top".  In other words, I took it as a facetious comment.  I would hope that an announcement that important would not have been stuck at the end of a TITIT but would instead have been in its own email to all MT members.  Especially given the importance Mark places on communication.
Again, I could be wrong.  If I am, then I agree with what others have said -- it would be well-deserved.
 

 I too emailed Mark and he wrote me back. It was just a joke so don't worry. Caused lots of panic he says. :-)

I never dreamed I would be taken seriously.
No, I am not retiring.  It's unlikely I will retire for 20 years.  If Mike and I got offered 100 Million USD, I still wouldn't.
Too much to do, and too much fun doing it...but most importantly,
too many good people to serve.

 Thank goodness I saw the headline "Mark is NOT retiring" right after I saw the question "Is Mark retiring?" That was a terrible scare for a second!

Manager Tools is making a big impact on improving the world of first and second level managers. I'd like to see you guys offer tools for the executive (Director, VP, CEO).
