After 15 years of distinguished service I was fired and I couldn't feel better! The last 6 months have been so oppressive that I was checking my email at 5 AM every morning to deflect back-stabbing politics and poison emails. Our company was in a flat market and the norm of team-building and goal focus was replaced with CYA focused efforts to avoid getting laid off. However, I could see the writing on the wall, got my resume updated, and had my network ready. Now I am looking to the next opportunity.
Funny thing is…
The week prior to being fired I received a corporate achievement award. I also received a Technical Prowess award and a divisional achievement award after being fired.

Sounds like you were in a great state of mind when the firing occured. How have things gone since then? Seems like you have a bunch of accomplishments to list on your resume even after you left.
