I want to start out by saying I really enjoy the podcast. I'm learning a lot. First off, I'm a fairly new manager. I'm the radiology supervisor at a 300 bed hospital and I really want to get started doing one on ones. My problem is I have 28 employees on 3 different shifts including weekend option. I am committed to becoming the best manager possible and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again and love the show,

Wow! You have a challenge and One-on-Ones are worth the effort. Consider stretching your schedule a bit and conduct one-on-ones over the phone, Google talk (NOT instant messaging-use voice), or Skype.
My group has had very good luck doing O3s regularly using all 3 technologies.
One-on-Ones with a lot of direct reports.
If you have any team leads have them do some of these 03's?
Are all your directs full-time? If you have some part-timers consider doing 03's with them bi-weekly or once a month.
Think about each direct and decide which ones require more frequent communication than others.
