Introduction, a bit late

Hi everyone. I've already asked a question and gotten a great response in another [url=http://www.manager-tools.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1132]thread[/url], but I thought I should formally introduce myself. My name is Karen, and at age 30 I'm a newbie to management (not counting my experience in college as a supervisor at the dining hall). I have a B.S. in environmental science from Cornell University, and a M.S. in urban planning from theUniversity of Texas, neither of which are really relevant to the career I find myself in. ;) I have been with my organization - the headquarters of a non-profit professional/trade association for real estate managers - for a bit less than three years. Last year I was promoted to Manager of Academic and Organization Outreach. The association world has its quirks compared to private industry, but I find that the Manager Tools resources and techniques work even in my odd career field. :) Once I hire someone, I will have only one direct report. My small department is responsible for prioritizing and implementing strategic programs for our organization - everything from our new student outreach program, designed to make college students aware of property management as a career choice; to the corporate sales and relationship-building that allows us to provide our training and designations to and through private companies, government agencies, and other associations. I have one peer in my department who works on our international partnerships, plus my boss - like I said, it's a small department! Thanks to our hard work and the great leadership of my boss, we have increased one of our revenue streams (the corporate sales of our training programs) four-fold since I started three years ago. I love my job, and love working for an association. If anyone has any questions about my organization, association management as a career, or anything else, let me know. Edited to add: I haven't done my DISC profile yet, so I have no idea what my letter is. In the Myers-Briggs world, I'm an ENFJ. Very high on the E, while slight to moderate on the NFJ. :)
