secure access of premium content via iTunes

 Hi Manager Tools team!

Just became a premium subscriber, you folks have a boatload of extremely valuable content here. When I went to the premium content page, I was surprised to see links to the docs and podcasts that required a password but sent it over the interwebs unencrypted! Is there a trick to securely authenticating and then downloading the content via iTunes, or do I need to perform some unnatural acts of scriptery?
