Mutiple Feedback in One To One

Hi,

While reviewing content for a One To oNe with my direct I have realised that I will be giving several lots of feedback (1 positive 3 adjusting).

Is this normal or will my direct feel overwhelmed with feedback in their One to One. Have other people found thier self in this situation??

Thanks,

Paul.

I stopped myself from doing just that not too long ago.  I don't know what your DR's Disc is, but I decided to keep most of the feed back outside of the O3.  There is some, but not very much.  I dole out feedback as much as I can, or at least think about it.  (affirming and adjusting)
I guess my fear is that the DR wouldn't see the O3 as a relationship builder, but a slot to hold the nail for my hammer.  That would hinder our efforts to 'build' the team.
Good luck, I'd be interested to hear what you end up doing and how it turns out

Paul,
How long have you been doing o3s?  If you have been at them for some time, your direct will know their purpose, and then I think it would be fine.  If the O3s are relatively new, I would lean towards Joe's advice.

The ratio of positive to adjusting feedback should (overall) be around 9:1 - vast majority positive.  There is research to back this up.
Most feedback should be minor, off the cuff, at the time...saving it up only sends the signal that it's a big deal.
The O3 is good if there is likely to be a more detailed discussion, in which case you're crossing over from feedback into coaching (ie, how can the direct be better at presentations generally).
