Now if only someone would write a great book... maybe they would even call it "The Effective Manager", as a tribute to Drucker.... ;-)

Congrats M&M!

Tom, yep! that would really make our days, weeks, months, years :)
I think Mark mentioned somewhere its done but there's a hold up with the publisher

Submitted by John Hack on Tuesday July 24th, 2007 11:05 pm

Maybe if Mark gave us the publisher's email address, we could send out a few email "reminders" that there is a lot of latent demand for this product....

Mike and I were joking VERY late last night that we're going to hit 15,000 members right before premium launch. Kinda cool.

Anybody figured out what the incentive will be for the launch?

Mark

Submitted by Will Duke on Wednesday July 25th, 2007 2:39 pm

Incentive? Make it free!

Seriously though, I think there's enough incentive here already. Heck, I'd pay the $15/mo for what I'm already getting. I feel obligated.

Submitted by Asterisk RNTT on Wednesday July 25th, 2007 2:47 pm

Am I allowed to guess???? Oh wait, I already have some suspicions

If you are already excited about the premium content, the incentive will make you PLOTZ! (now go consult your standard English/Yiddish dictionary)... and I only use PLOTZ because Mark used "Kibbitz" in one of the last casts

PLOTZ: To burst, to explode, "I am so excited that I will "plotz.""

I've shared my "guess" with Mike, but only he knows if I'm right or not. If so, it's very very cool- and, like many others here, I would have subscribed without it.

7 days and counting...

Ok, but being Canadian, it has to be a rumoUr.

I "heard" that there will be a draw for 2 conference spots, followed by a weekend at Horstman Estates, followed by Mark taking the lucky prize winner for a round at Pebble Beach. 8) TOP THAT!

Submitted by Terri Hamilton on Wednesday July 25th, 2007 5:41 pm

Top that? Hmmm....

A drawing for 2 conference spots followed by 3 days of onsite consulting services at your company!!! :!:

Submitted by Will Duke on Wednesday July 25th, 2007 5:44 pm

Wow, an onsite consulting service. That's pretty juicy.

But then again, Mark's picture sure could imply the golfing.

I think I'll go with a free pass to the conference, including room and airfare plus a round of golf with Mark and Mike and the club pro. Nice foursome.

Submitted by Mark Horstman on Wednesday July 25th, 2007 6:11 pm

Well, it's NOT a drawing.

And 3 days of consulting is $22,000. Wow! Thanks for the comment on our generosity!

You just never know.

T Shirt. I like that. Maybe a Hoody! Could it have giant block letters on the back?

Ohh I want Mike's Soapbox!

And and and...well, a seat at the conference would make me squeal, but that just ain't happening this time!

Hrm...signed book copy. Limited Edition Horstman's Laws plaque.

(I'd take golf with Mark, so long as he puts up with my newb status).

Connick, I fell out of my chair when I read your ideas! :D

I would love to venture a guess, but I probably shouldn't.

This is so exciting! Talk about a great summer - the launch of the iPhone, the new Harry Potter book and Manager Tools Premium Content!

I can't wait!!!

Submitted by Matt Beckwith on Thursday July 26th, 2007 1:15 am

Ok, so I'm going to ask the question that so many might be wondering.

What time will Premium be available on August 1st? Midnight? If so, in which time zone?

Submitted by Matt Beckwith on Thursday July 26th, 2007 1:21 am

I have an idea!

But wait, there's more... buy on August 1st and we'll throw in Mark & Mike Uncut and Unplugged - the Manager Tools Bloopers - What They Wouldn't Let Us Hear... until now!

-plus-

A set limited edition Mark & Mike talking bobble heads with sayings like, "That is GALACTICALLY STUPID", "Nice handshake", "Don't worry, we have 18 and a half steps to fix that" and everybody's favorite, "Can I give you some feedback?"

Submitted by Andrew Weston on Thursday July 26th, 2007 4:37 am

How about a poseable action figure, with kung-fu/firm handshake grip, which comes in 9 1/2 pieces for self assembly complete with slides and transcript instructions, stood on a soap box, wearing a MT 'T' shirt & hoodie with the slogan "Im a Manager Tool", gripping a putter for balance, that, on the pull of a string, vocalises bloopers from the podcasts, gives you feedback every 4 minutes and 15 seconds, doubles as a free pass into conferences, will stand on your desk and let you staff know when they mess up, or smell, or miss a deadline, or are late, and can be used as a mobile phone which will make you sound like Mark or Mike.

Cant wait!!!

My hubby says the bonus should be a new book for spouses of MT fans, called "How Manager Tools Stole my Wife." I agree -- please give him something to do while I immerse myself in all the new content!

Soapbox

Hoodie with M A N A G E R on the back

Mark & Mike bobble heads. Mark's spouts Horstman's laws, Mikes's gives feedback. They stand together on their own little soap box.

Manager-Tools branded video iPod preloaded with the podcasts, bloopers and the now unavailable Kellogg video.

Eternal Life - Oh wait, I keep getting Manager-Tools confused with religion. I'm not ready to shave my head and wear robes for Mark and Mike but my corporate Amex is hovering near the screen and I'm wondering if I can stand in line at midnight on the 1st to sign up for premium content. I suspect I will have to settle for wearing out my F5 button on the 1st waiting for Mike to flip the switch.

I love these ideas!!!

Of course, the cat's out of the bag later today. I'm drafting the blog post right now.

Hope you like it. When we stumbled across this idea (even a blind hog finds an acorn every once in a while), we were stunned by how perfect it was for our community.

It's our way of saying thanks...and it's still not enough for how lucky we feel to be sharing all of our work with all y'all.

Stay tuned to the blog!

The ideas are all great ... lovin' it!

And yes, Mike plays golf. The only difference between Mark's golf game and mine is that Mark plays *well*. :-(

How come no one has mentioned the free sets of ginsu knives, along with the world's smallest juicer?

You get TWO knife sets as a bonus! The regular daily use knives plus the Super MT knife sets that will let you shave meat so thin that your DRs will never want to come to one of your food provided functions again!

Operators are standing by now. Have your CC ready!

Dave-

Regarding the great summer....I have all three already.

Alas, the other two have me only 132 pages into one of them. Maybe after the 1st.

And, regarding someone else's question, we're not sure of timing on the 1st. We're aware that may be a slight problem, and we're working on it...but Mike is away until the 31st, and while he is working, he's with family and that comes first here.

Please everyone here go to the blog and read what we're offering!!!

:D

And, keep sending us great ideas. Some of these will get picked up, I'm sure.

Oh, and there's more news coming, too....
Just read the blog post. That's great! Nice guess Rich!
Not really a guess. My blog reader picked up about a dozen postings, talking about the interview casts, for which the web pages had been deleted.

Mike even admitted it to me over e-mail. I wasn't going to post anything at all, but then Mark taunted us to put our guesses in writing, so I felt I had to say something. :)

Some of the other guesses were pretty fun. I especially liked "Mark's soapbox", although the chance of getting a hold of that is considerably less likely than receiving $22,000 worth of free consulting. 8)

On the first, you'll either be able to click a link that will take you to a splash page, OR you can just go to your profile and the payments links will all be active.

Be advised...Mike is travelling until the 31st. I am out the 1st. It is UNLIKELY it will be live at midnight the night before. We will try to come up with a time in the next couple of days.

My soapbox is not for sale! On the other hand, coach people and watch managers for 20 years, and you too can have your OWN! I suspect all of you have your own already...but mine just comes with a microphone and thousands of listeners....

I can see a Manager Tools store soon, very similar to Think Geek, with things like the Mike Auzenne Podcast kit or the framed Horstman's Laws poster... ;-)
