Just starting with a new team O3s

Hi all,

I have just taken over a new team and want to start this right, there are 15 people and split into some logical teams Admin, Tech Arch,Tech Delivery, PM's and Analysis.  I have a team lead for the Admin and Tech so its no problem setting them up there, but the Analysis guy is a contractor so not sure if to set. Tech delviery is completed by a 3rd party and the team lead for them is part of that third party

The issue I have issue that I have Deputy who managed projects in their own right and to some extend manages the project managers too.  i know he does no have 1:1 with the team weekly but i do not want to undermine his authority by doing so with his guys but want to ensure we are developing them.

Any thoughts

Does the deputy report to you?  If so, you do your one on one with your "Deputy" and after those are successful, you can have the deputy do the O3's with his folks.

Do it for the consultant.  You are responsible for his behavior.
For the 3rd party guy, you could consider using the O3 for project managers approach (skip the career stuff).  Or just skip it.
So, to sum up:
O3s with all of your directs (they are your guys!), consultant or permanent.  PM O3 optional for the 3rd party.
Hope that helps,
Mike
